Artist bio

Upon retiring from teaching, I began to pursue my desire to develop my skills with oil paint.  I enrolled in painting classes at both my local community college and museum school and I flourished.  With each completed painting, I felt I had advanced my ability to represent my subject either literally or subjectively.  In one painting, mushrooms cast the shadows at Stonehenge and in another, lilies show their colorfully patterned petals to the moonlight.

And as I continue to paint here in NC, I attempt to use the paint to tell a story.  Sometimes, it depicts a realistic visit to a lavender garden where we inhale the fragrance. Or it’s a surrealistic mosaic of exotic birds suggested by a trip to Florida.  I hope my art speaks to those who see it hanging as much as it speaks to me.
